I just thought I would introduce myself. I have been a member of Daily Strength for a couple of months now, but just found this community.
I am having trouble just calling and ordering pizza, and when I am going to a place where I know there are a lot of people that I might have to talk to I have a hard time. When someone is upset and has a loud, harsh tone, I panic. All stemming from the physical abuse I suffered as a child, I think.
Anyway that is a short overview of what I am dealing with conserning anxiety. Looking forward to getting to know you.

A friend sent this to me..As far as I can see, grief will never truly end.It may become softer overtime, more gentleand some days will feel sharp. But grief will last as long as Love does - ForeverIt's simply the way the absence of your loved onemanifests in your heart. Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
in regards to you not being able to call....
although it will be hard, try to call a bunch of stores.... practice... ask if they have a specific item... you can always hang up if you are unable to deal!
but i think the practice will help you get thru and get used to confronting people and dealing with other people!
I'm totally with Becky, having difficulty with the phone, and going to where I'll have to talk to people I know (seem fine with strangers, tho -- weird!). As also that I panic when someone uses a loud harsh tone. I get shaky and can't think straight.
The phone thing is rough b/c I have several family members who are offended by my "improper" phone etiquette. They just don't get it. I don't hold it against them, since it can be hard to understand, but I do find the problem is self-compounding: I've been anxious about the phone so haven't returned a call or checked in, then know they'll be irritated which makes me more anxious and harder to call. And so on. THANK HEAVENS FOR EMAIL/THE INTERNET! :)
