Hi Everyone,
i've recently discovered anxiety! it has come to the point where i have been avoiding a lot of things that i come across on a dailly basis.
part of me feels that if i could just pop a pill and this feeling would go away that would be heaven sent! & part of me wants to work thru it!
agrophobia is heredity in my family. I know i have social phobia but my actions are showing me early onset of agrophobia.
I read a book recently that said even though its heredtary doesnt mean you can't work thru it or teach yourself how to not have an attack.
Does anyone agree with this??????? or do you agree if its in you you can only cure it with medication?
how does one know if it is heredity or if it just your fears turned bad?
is it harder to do it one way vs. another?
the withdrawal doesnt seen good! it helps you and then causes you anxiety with the withdrawal that sounds horrible!
i'm new to this message board, so any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!
thanks!

That said, if your anxiety is keeping you from functioning as a human being (i.e. not leaving your house or lying in bed all day), medication may be the kick you need to get you back into living life. However, meds should never be used as a crutch. You need to keep working with yourself to change the behaviors that are hurting yourself. The meds will help get rid of some of the noise that is preventing you from working through the healing process. Your doctor can help you choose the right path for your healing.
