Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I am on Zoloft 25mg. We lost our health insurance so I am sort of 'not taking' my meds but I find that I am getting a little snarky. Meaning, I tend to get a little scarcastic and not meaning too. I also tend to babble. I was babbling to the sales girl at the scrapbooking store about how addicting this is (doing alternative art) and normally I wouldn't make commentary. My dh wants me to take my meds because he is getting tired of the snarkyness and I can understand that.He says take the *&^%% meds...you are easier to deal. You're happier, I am happier, everyone is happy when you take your meds. I didn't think I would get this snarky...almost like DR. House snarky but not as mean spirited.
Is this normal to have a reaction like this to getting off meds? I would like to be off of them forever but maybe Christmastime is not the best time for this.

i went off my meds because of insurance reasons too ... and i really need to go back on them. it is normal. you aren't supposed to go off the medicine without doctor approval - if only the insurance companies cared like our doctors. ask your doc if he has samples to give you and ask if you could get weened off. or maybe take an herbal alternative. but ask your doc first. =)

I get easily frustrated and snappy when I get off my meds too. I got dropped off my father's insurance plan when I turned 18, and I had lots of trouble getting my own insurance because of my "pre-existing condition." Luckily, my doctor started giving me samples of my meds instead of writing prescriptions. I left every session with a large paper bag, hehe. I agree with silvermoonraven's suggestion to ask your doctor for samples. Some of them can be very understanding of insurance problems. :)

By what you have said here I really feel that the Zoloft is a safe bet for you to keep taking. I am surprised at the low dose but meds do tend to work at different levels for different people. When I first started getting treatment for my anxiety disorder I was prescribed Zoloft and my sister, who lived with us, and my hubby called it my "chill" pill, lol, and they made sure I took it every day. I described it as taking my nails out of the walls. I stopped snapping at them and life was more pleasant around the homestead. I understand about the insurance deal, while I have medicare and medicade, medicare does not cover all medicines and I have to do with out them or get them from my doctor's office in the form of samples. My mom gets her Zoloft from WalMart on their new drug plan. I don't remember what it costs her but it is relatively cheap compared to full price. I know Zoloft is an expensive medicine. I is also a good medicine though and I just don't think that insurance companies ought to be allowed to withhold it like they do. Call WalMart if you have one near by or within a reasonable distance and ask them how much it would cost. If not then I would suggest you talk to your doctor about samples. I have not met a doctor who was not happy to provide their patients with samples when they don't have insurance and they have the medicines that they need. My husband gets one of his meds that way. They keep him supplied with it. Hope things turn out and try your best to get back on the med. God bless, Teressa

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
