You get less sleepy with time. One thing my doctor told me is if I feel really sleepy, just to drink coffee and that neutralizes the effects. It does, but otherwise I shouldn't be drinking coffee.
If you only take it as needed it is a good drug. If you have to take it daily I would ask about klonopin. I switched over to klonopin and for me it works much better since you get 10-12 hours per dose or more. I went 16 hours today on 1 dose then started to get withdrawl symptoms not anxiety. I am supposed to take .5 3x a day but I cut it down to .5 2x a day because it lasts a long time.
I can take mine on an empty stomach but I can normally take most pills like that each person is different.
If you take it regularly the tiredness passes in a few days. If you take it as needed and not often then you will get tired and sometimes half a pill is plenty depending on your anxiety level. 1mg is a high dose to start in my opinion, my doctors started me at .25mg to see how it worked because it is easier to increase from .25 then 1mg since it can be addictive.
