I am curious as to how you deal with heart palpitations. I went to my husband's cardiologist because I can't stand this thing anymore.
He said it's an overabundance of adrenalin causing it, and he ran some tests. I wore a holter monitor for 48 hours, had an electrocardiogram and some blood tests.
He said I am depressed and the only way to get over that and my anxiety is by myself with the help of my therapist.
I have Xanax and took a helf of a .25 last week, and I still had palpitations. Could I need more?
The cardiologist doesn't agree with using xanax but my therapist and family doctor do.
I will get my test results next Tuesday, but the doctor thinks it's all anxiety.
Does anyone else get where it feels like an extra beat or that your heart is jumping???
It used to do it infrequently, now it is on and off all day and night.
Help!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
i know that it can come from too much anxiety and stress, and i've heard it's not dangerous. but if it's happening frequently, it's probably best to listen to the cardiologist, since it's his speciality. maybe he can suggest a different drug to replace the xanax.
When it was determined to be panic attacks, my family physician prescribed 0.5mg Xanax, which indeed did help. My panic was originating with my work environment, so in addition to the Xanax to take the edge off the worse effects, I was luckily able to change departments in my company, which reduced the panic attacks to nearly 0 without any medication, although I kept Xanax on had just in case.
If your condition is caused by general anxiety, then there may be better medicine out there for the condition than Xanax. I am now on Paxil (30mg/day) for Social Anxiety and the depression that it brought on. But in my case for panic attacks, Xanax has been a great treatment.
Good luck!
Good luck.
I have had tests and all ok but i still cant help but worry that my heart is diseased.
Its a viscious circle, as your heart palpitates, you worry which then makes the palpitation worse so you worry more!
My heart also skips beats and thuds in my chest even when i dont feel particulary anxious.
Your not alone!
