I really could use some advice on how others have been able to not think about work during their off time. My anxiety is very high to the point of not being able to sleep, and to not be able to enjoy time spent with my husband when I am not working, because I have not figured out how to tune my work out of my mind. Any suggestions?

Looking at your profile, you have a lot on your plate. This is just me, but having to live somewhere else to do my job away from my family, I couldn't do it for long. Is that still the case for you? Any possibility of changing that? We need the support of our family and work is not as important as the relationships we have with them. I know it's hard if you found a job you love too. My suggestion honestly would be to find a similar job where you can live with your family. Maybe if you aren't on meds you need them or if you are you need them adjusted. Have you been in or considered cognitive behavior therapy? It's supposed to help change behaviors and thinking patterns. Just another option. you can overcome this. Good luck.

I am not sure. Its hard for me not to think of my kids that i teach over the weekend. Sounds like you have the same problem. Try doing something else you enjoy. can your husband help you.

Thanks for your advice on my situation, I went to the movies with my husband and son and is girlfriend played guitarband and it worked. Just hope tonight I can sleep without waking up.

My suggestion is meditation...or almost just as good, just a half an hour of quiet (twice a day would be spectacular, but consistantly doing one will work). It's harder than it sounds, but if you can be faithful to your quiet/meditation time, you will feel better.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things.
