General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. I have been a member of DS for quite awhile, but for some reason just thought about joining this community recently. I have had anxiety issues for as long as I can remember, but just started identifying it as that a few years ago. I guess it is more of a GAD - I do not suffer panic attacks or anything. My doctor perscribed me Clonazapam (PRN), which is effective, but a little addictive, so I have been trying other means to subdue my symptoms - I LOVE excercise and positive thinking and self-talk.
Does anyone else have some techniques they use to control their symptoms?
Also, any goods books out there on anxiety that anyone can recommend?
Thanks to anyone who responds!!

A book I would recommend would be The Relaxation & Stress Reduction Workbook, by Davis, Eshelman, & McKay. Another one is The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook by Bourne. I've found them to be quite helpful, there are several techniques in them and the reasoning behind why that is. They're both about 20$, and if you want them cheaper I'm sure you could find them on amazon used also. Welcome to the community.

Hello...yes, my anxiety is always worse at night...i think it's called night terrors. i have read on here that many people are worse in the mornings ...i guess it affects everyone differently. I have heard that Dr Claire Weekes has written very helpful books which i intend to buy. .Axietyridden has posted some of her work in her journals which is very helpful. Deep breathing exercises and relaxation are also good.

yesday I was walking the same block I've walked for a year. I walked pass the German Shepards house and he came out the door of the fence and went straight for my yorkies neck. I went into Mama bear mode jumped on the back of the German Shepard all 100 pounds of me and wrestled with a German Shepard that weighs more than me. When I jumped on him like a horses back.
