when i first joined daily, i was in a pretty bad way with my anxiety and although i still have some really bad days im alot better than i was a good few weeks back! I was a mess , id never taken any medication, and the doctors had prescribed me all different kinds of things to try.....but i never did, Because i was terrified to take any form of medication, i was always scared about the side affects of tablets, id read all the bad stuff on the leaflet and that was more than enough to put me off trying it,
so ok maybe im posting this in the wrong section of daily, but when i was so desperate to try something because i couldnt cope with my anxiety anymore alone i would always come here and see what other people were taking to help, so i wanna say for anybody who is suffering anxiety and is scared to try medication to help, then dont be! I am now taking xanax i use it just as a crutch, i dont use it daily. i dont get any side affects from it, and it doesnt make me crash out or anything it just as i call it (discreetly relaxs me) I dont feel funny, or sedated, im on a nice low dose and it just takes that horrible edge of it away! So if any of you guys are suffering and havent tried a medication cos like me your scared to death of tablets then i just want you to know i know how scary it is the first time you take a tablet BUT it really is worth trying! :) anybody who wants to message me regarding this further please do so Jordan xxx

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I agree when my meds are up and running I feel so much better able to cope with things. I used to be the sort of person who was all into 'natural' things. But then I got really bad with anxiety/depression and really thought I couldn't carry on. Although I'm not quite there with medication just at the moment, in the past it has been really useful.
It is definetely worth a try and on consultant with my doctor I also take herbal remedies/supplements as well.
I used to think I was a failure and that I was giving in by taking meds, but now after being told repeatedly by proffessionals that if I was a diabetic I would take insulin so why not medication for anxiety/depression? I do feel better about it.
I guess meds are not for everyone, but they are worth considering.
On the subject of Ativan making you a zombie, almost ALL benzos will make you tired at first. This goes away after a few days. I was on Xanax for 12 years 3x a day and in the hospital during my surgery my doctor switched me to klonopin. Same dose everything and it made me so tired for about 4 days then I was fine. Good thing I had nothing else to do but lay in a bed since I was tired.
They make the meds for a reason. Having anxiety just makes us that much more paranoid to try something. They do work it just takes time to find the right combo.
i m only on a very low dose and i dont take it everyday i find it most useful for me as a sleeping aid, that said i havent tried taking it daily but im thinking of doing so to knock out any anxiety in the day too
