Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I try to turn my thoughts into posotive thoughts which helps somewhat.
Good Luck!
I am a teacher, and I do have some anxiety. My anxiety is not severe, but whenI get it, it can easily get out of hand if I let it. Just yesterday, I was in class (primary grades), and I was being observed by my professor, from the university, where I'm finishing my teaching credential work.Well, before she came, I got this anxious feeling, almost like as if I could hear my own voice in stereo. It scared me, but I decided to take a deep breath, and go on with my lesson.
Something else I do, is that I make accommodations for myself, just as I would for any students. My self accommodation is that I review emergency procedures with my students. Aslittle as they are, they know what to do, in case something happens to me. I tell things like, since we haven't had a fire drill in a while, who can tell me what we do during fire emergencies? Then after that, I throw it in by saying, ok great...now what about if something happened to you? What do you think I would do? That's right, I'd call the office, (as I write the office extension on the board), and I'd help to make sure you were okay. That's when I try to go for the homerun, and say, now, we know what we'd do in a fire drill, we know what we'd do if you got hurt, what about me...what would you do if I got hurt? Like say if I fell down, and I couldn't talk? At that point, the students have pretty much figured out, through deductive reasoning, that they would call a near by teacher, or they'd call the office.
Thank God I haven't had to use this emergency call situation...but I feel safer, knowing that I've empowered my students to be alert, and prepared.
Good Luck! :)
