Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I have the same problem...I drink 2 beers in the evening just to chill out. I'm not on medication anymore, but I certainly feel more anxious in the mornings.
Us anxiety sufferers also have the potential problem that by drinking, we will create a psychological 'anchor'.
Kind of like, "Ok, i'm having a drink now, so I will feel better".
It's so easy to rely on that anchor to feel better and that isn't a situation that you want really.
I'm trying to create that 'feeling good anchor' with other things, like taking my dog for a walk etc...that way I can have more tools to use to make me feel ok.
I'm sure what meds you are on, but most SSRIs and benzo type drugs greatly intensify the effects of alcohol, so you really have to watch that you don't end up in a bad way.
Its efing hard though i know, like i say, i do it sometimes. Why is it that all the bad things make us feel good, and at times all the good things make us feel bad?
I stopped drinking beer for about 6 weeks as my doctor gave me sleep aid, i ve had a slip the past 2 weeks and need to get back with the programme and start taking my sleep aid again, its hard to relax between between bedtime and sleep.
I do it for instant anxiety stopper to chill, even though its 3 beers i think its become a reliant sorce for chilling and sleep.
Im not saying dont do it but i am saying be carefull, it can become a vicious cycle if your not carefull.
