Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

It amazes me how some people can't even remember the name of their drugs that they are currently taking. I was talking to my sis-in-law yesterday and asked her what she was on and it took her a good long moment to remember it and when she did answer, I think she spelled it wrong or was pronouncing it incorrectly because it was something I had never heard of and I've become quite familiar lately with a lot of the antidepressant/antianxiety drugs out there. Anyhow, based on what she was saying I think she was trying to say she's on Celexa.
Her daughter (my 11 year old niece) has been having a lot of strange symptoms these past few months, and it's been concluded that it's caused by anxiety/depression and my sis-in-law informed me that my niece is now taking an antidepressant type drug as well, which surprised me somewhat, since she's so young and all. I asked what the drug was...and guess what...she couldn't remember!! The only thing she remembered is that it starts with the letter 'N'. Hmmmmmmm. I can't think of many, if any, psychiatric drugs that begin with 'N'. Does anyone have any ideas of what it might be? Obviously it must be mild or at least a low dose since it's being prescribed to a child.
She's a sweet kid, not violent and socializes well at school and with her friends. I'm thinking it's her current home life situation and the stressful marriage between her parents right now, and her mom's ongoing issues and constant unhappiness that probably have my niece stressed out and anxious, or at least contribute to it to a great degree (that along with the fact that she's at a vulnerable age right now, going through puberty etc might also be playing a role in it). I hope she's in therapy of some sort because I can't help but think that would be one of the best things for her right now to help her cope. I feel bad that she was put on a drug. I'm just really curious about what it is she was prescribed and can't figure this one out. Sorry to keep rambling.
So does anyone have any thoughts about what it might be?
Thanks.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Im so sorry to hear your little niece is having a hard time, poor little mite,i hope the doctor did a thorough look down the list at all her symptoms first.
Deppression annd anxiety often start at a young age although not always, it,s also genetic so it,s quite possible she gets this from her mum.
I hope she gets the thorough and vidgilant care she needs and her mum stays posotive with her and helps her a great deal with self help techniques, if her mum goes through workboks and breathing techniques in a posotive manner to show her daughter that this is whsat mummy does to get better as well as medicine that she will see there is allways help.
Maybe if your niece would open up to you about certain worries she has you could help her give her some more realistic/posotive ways to make these worries a little better for her.

I've a friend who's been on a few different one's and when I ask WHAT he's on?? he also can't remember!
The names are NOT that complicated and whenever I was prescribed something new, I googled it for 2 days so I knew everything about it and the last thing I was EVER going to forget is the name.(?) :)
