Aneurysms Support Group
An aneurysm (or aneurism) is localized, blood-filled dilation (bulge) of a blood vessel caused by disease or weakening of the vessel wall. Aneurysms most commonly occur in arteries at the base of the brain and in the aorta - this is an aortic aneurysm. This bulge in a blood vessel can burst and lead to death at any time.

Has anyone ever heard of or had the same brain aneurysm rupture after a coiling procedure? My sis (age 56) had a massive brain aneurysm Dec. 22, 2006, it was coiled that evening. She was put in ICU, started to stablize, and was going to rehab, although she never left hospital. She was communicating some, smiling and laughing, but could not walk, or move limbs very well. February 9th the same aneurysm ruptured again, this time we were told that she was in very "grim" condition. She was back in ICU barely hanging on to her life. We were told that the first rupture was bad, but this one was 10 times worse!! When she was stable enough, but not even close to ready for any rehab, she was put in a nursing home in March 2007. Well by June the darn thing started a slow leak, the doc said that "it will develop into a full rupture" eventually. So her 5 grown kids and her hubby had to make a very hard decision, whether or not to have it clamped. There was a chance she wouldn't make it through surgery, or that she would be a vegetable. Well she is still alive, if one wants to call it living. She lies in her bed all day, in her chair maybe a couple hours or so per day, she is still on a feeding tube, has the trachea, and wears diapers. Not a pretty picture, I do not think she is a vegetable, because there are times we can get her to smile, she does try to talk when we place her "speaking trach" on. She now has a trach infection. I think her life expectancy has been cut shorter than it would have been without the aneurysm. I am sure there are quite a few things that could take her life now, phnemonia, infections, or God only knows what.......she is a miracle times 3. God has allowed her to live for a reason. But it is depressing to see her this way. Especially to see our 81 year old dad see her this way, now his health has took a decline since this has happened. This was not put in here to depress anyone, I just want to know if anyone else out there, has had anything like this happen to them, or to someone they know. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
