I have had iron deficiency anemia for 7 years (after Gastic Bypass Surgery). For the first 5 years, I was able to keep my iron levels stable, with iron supplements. For the past year, with excessively heavy periods, my levels have plummeted, even WITH iron supplements. I am now to a point where I can barely function. While I do still work, it takes every ounce of energy to even get out of bed. I am exhausted 24 hours a day, I have constant headaches, my heart races and palpitates much of the day (especially when resting)...and more. I am scheduled for a hysterectomy CONSULT in a month, but I need to know HOW to function UNTIL then. My doctor is afraid of IV or IM iron, but I am desperate. I HAVE to be able to function UNTIL I get my hysterectomy. From everything I have read, my symptoms indicate severe anemia...but she seems to think it is NO big deal. WHAT are DANGEROUSLY LOW iron levels? My current levels are as follows: Iron Total= 21(L), Iron percent saturation= 5.1(L) Ferritin= 2(L)

I miss traveling with my husband. Has anyone found a specific site regarding cruising for widow/widowers or any sightseeing trips. Not interested in being with couples and kids,,,I realize a cruise ship will have a portion size of families and couples, but perhaps they also put together a part of the cruise ship for groups of widows/widowers????
