Anemia Support Group
Anemia (or anaemia), which literally means "without blood," is a deficiency of red blood cells and/or hemoglobin. This results in a reduced ability of blood to transfer oxygen to the tissues, and this causes hypoxia; since all human cells depend on oxygen for survival, varying degrees of anemia can have a wide range of clinical consequences.

Hi there,
For a while I have had symptoms of something, and now the Anemia may be the culpret. I can stand up and have to hold on to furniture so that i dont fall down in fear of fainting. I am SO unbareable tired, and i just feel listless.
Every once in a while i have enough energy to get stuff done or even feel like doing something, but usually i just cant.
I am wondering if these are things that others also suffer from, or is this something else all together?
Thanks,
Westcoast

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
Fatigue and dizziness seem to be typical symptoms of anemia, the severity depending on how low your hemoglobin is.
I hope you feel better soon. Watch out when you stand up; go slow!

A big factor in mine was I was ALWAYS freezing and craving ice chewing. I would drive around with a sweatshirt on or where they around the house with blankets also when it was 72 degrees inside just because I always had the goosebumps.
I would NEVER recommend anyone to "suck it up"!!!!! I myself did that blaming my being tired and listless on being lazy, the summer heat ext... When I finally did see a Dr. They sent me directly to a hospital my hemoglobin was 3.7 they have no idea why but it was so low they had to give me a transfusion before they could even draw blood to type me. The Hematologist I saw was amazed that I didn't pass out or have a heart attack already since I had no blood for my heart to pump. Listen to your body. Woman in menstrual years have it a little worse.
For now take it slow getting up and hopefully the lightheadedness wont be so bad.
I know how hard it can me I have to give myself B12 injections and have transfusions as well as iron infusions regularly. Its not my first choice of how to spend my days but it has helped so much with my daily quality of life.
I hope you feel better soon.
