I was recently diagnosed with an iron deficiency a few days ago. The GI doctor didn't seem concerned because she said my primary levels of iron are good as was my CBC, but that it showed up in my back-up or secondary levels as being low. They also started me on an iron supplement twice a day. I don't know how much I can adjust dietary wise because of my other GI issues (I suffer from a relapsing colon infection), but how long before the medication should begin to kick in. Also is having a fever ever a symptom? Or sweating? I am haven't been feeling well for a few months now and I hope this will be of help, but honestly, I am worried the pills will do more harm than good. Any assistance would be appreciated.
