Anemia Support Group
Anemia (or anaemia), which literally means "without blood," is a deficiency of red blood cells and/or hemoglobin. This results in a reduced ability of blood to transfer oxygen to the tissues, and this causes hypoxia; since all human cells depend on oxygen for survival, varying degrees of anemia can have a wide range of clinical consequences.

My daughter (10 mos. old) was in the ER tonight for fever/bladder infection etc. And her bloodwork came back that she's pretty anemic. The doc seemed very concerned that we get her on a supplement or something VERY soon, as in we have a follow-up tommorrow. Does anyone know what effect anemia has on infants? I have iron deffecient anemia, and i know what the symptoms are for me but the doc didn't tell me anything beyound being so concerned about the supplement/follow-up.
Any help would be much apprecitated.
