I went to my follow up visit with my doctor and prosthetist on Wednesday. I now have a Flo-Tech temporary leg. It is a two piece prostetic and it works superb. I was given the go ahead to start walking with only one crutch whenever I feel up to it. I start with a shrinker sock wiyh bone ring. Then a stump sleeve before I put my short limb into the poly shell that encases my leg about half way up the back of my thigh and just below the big knob of bone below my knee cap. This is held in place by two big velcro patches and one strap. There is also a place to hook a small clip to it and wear a belt to hold it in place if the short limb shrinks dramatically. Then I have a bigger shell that the poly one fits into that is held in place by three more straps and can also be hooked to the belt. I am walking with crutches right now, but plan to put one of them down in a week to a week and a half as long as this goes okay and doesn't irritate the bottom of the short limb. I go back in two weeks for my first casting, and go to get my first full time below the knee prosthetic a week after that if it's ready. I'll start physical therapy then too. I feel amazing and it doessn't hurt as bad as you would think. I have to keep the inner shell on all the time because it helps with the contractures until I start walking with the below the knee. We are going to start with the Perfect Stride II ( thanks Kay, you're my hero! ) for my full time permanant leg. If there is any one that is getting ready to go through an amputation, I myself had an IPOP and I am so far ahead of the normal procedure it is unreal. Only my opinion though. I think everyone should decide for yourself as I did. I will be posting some pictures of this thing soon. Have a great weekend. John.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
