I am an above knee amputee. My first prostetic leg was the regular one. It was thought that I would do better with a microprocessor knee (C-leg). We thought there would be no problem with Blue Cross paying for it. I was told that after a couple of denials, they would approve it. Well, 3 denials later and still no sight of approval. My primary care physician even wrote a letter to Blue Cross and still no luck! Hanger's actually let me have the C-leg so I've been wearing it and it has actually helped my and I'm not falling as mucy. Any suggestions on how to get the insurance company to pay for it? Also, my amputation was approximately 1 year ago and I need a new socket and they don't want to pay for a new one. Help!
