Hi,
Is there anyone eles here who has had a transmetatarsal amputation(lost all toes or half of a foot)? I lost all my toes, and half my left foot due to meningitis and sepsis in 2001. They didnt just cut off the left foot and flap over the end. They had to gutt it like a twice backed potatoe and fill the foot with muscle from my abdomin and skin from the top of my thieghs. They actaul buildt a platform to walk on.
I can walk, but am in pain. I was wondering if anyone eles in the same boat and how much pain meds they have to use. I am taking 20mg of oxy 4 times a day, through out the day and right before bed time.
I took 7.5mg x 8 of vicodone a day for seven years, then I had a osteomylitis operation and a bone spur removed and pain levels shot through the roof. Now Im on this agressive oxy stuff. It works good,Im just worried about later on if the resistance ever builds.
Thanks,
-Dez

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...

Do keep your doctors informed if you plan to try reducing your medications; it's very rare, but some combinations of meds can have odd or bad results if the balance is upset.
