I am looking for anyone who is going through what I am and any advice they can offer me. I am a BK amputee still trying to find a leg that I can wear without pain. I have now tried 4 different sockets without any luck. I have tried two full weight bearing sockets and two were my limb does not touch the bottom of the socket. My residual limb is "classically short" and hard to fit, so I am told. My prosthetic doctor is trying everything he can to fit me comfortably. I have been told that the statistics for people able to wear a limb comfortably and continue an active lifestyle for AK is only 43% and slightly higher for BK. I am now resorting to finding a surgeon willing to take out the 5 major nerves left in my leg. I am getting close to giving up.
