Hi everyone
my nan has altzhimers shes in the mid stage.
she forgets to eat and gets very aggressive if you tell her she hasnt eaten. she will say she isnt hungery and she has lost so much weight im very worried about her.
for example the other day she ate 2 chips and a spoon of ocean pie.
today she ate 1 small potatoe and 1 small fish cake.
i have brought her some build up products recommended by a phamisit in milk shake and a soup the only thing is , she doesnt drink milk shake and hardly ever has soup. do you know of any other products you can buy / get prescribed like youghurts / suppliments to put in tea. (i worked in a care home before and i remember shakes and soups but im sure we used to give other products to help keep weight on )
any suggestions would be very much appreiciated.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
My husband has not lost weight yet but he is losing his enjoyment of food. He used to love to eat and was so crazy about my cooking he would often take pictures of the meals I'd fixed. Now he rarely knows when he's hungry and forgets what foods he likes and says food just doesn't taste good anymore.
It is real important to keep them eating as much as you can even if it means feeding them things that are not necessairly the best for nutrition.
With my husband he would not drink the shakes, said they tasted like crap and he'd rather starve. I make him fruit smoothies and he likes them well enough to drink them, thinks they are fruit shakes but I use things like fruit juice, fresh or frozen fruit, rice milk, yogert for thickener and honey for sweetness.
Good luck but realize your mom will continue to lose weight, lose interst in food and eventualy forget how to eat. Hugs, Georgia
We finally got them to the point they eat the designated meals which are healthier than any snacks. From time to time we carry them a burger as a treat, but not that often.
Mom eats her breakfast but very little lunch or dinner.
