My name is Julie. Tomorrow I am going to do something I never thought I'd have to do adn i need some advice.
My grandmother is 84 years old. When I was growing up, she was the smartest person I ever met. She was a nurse and she knew EVERYTING. Adn if she didn't know it, she had a book on it and would find out for you.
In the last couple years, she has really went down hill and in the last few years, we found out she was Alzheimers.
We knew this would be heartbreaking- but I never imagined this bad.
She was a caregiver that comes in every dya to feed her & my grandfather (who has dibilatating arthritis and dementia). She also has macular degeneration so she is blind.
over the past few months, things keep getting worse and worse. Today, she was foudn in her room, stuffing all her belongings into a pillow case. She said she was leaving to go home because she doesn't want to live here. She wantes her husband. When we say he is there, she says that is her father, who has been dead for 20+ years.
When we went to the basement, we discovered she has about 10 pillowcases full of her stuff by the basement door, ready to leave.
She has not showered in weeks. She won't. So her stomach is raw and she won't let anyone touch it. My aunt has legal power over them, as they gave it to her decades ago. My aunt lives 2.5 hours away and does not want to deal with putting them in a home. My grandmother is going to hurt herself. She could already have a life threatening infection from her raw stomach. They need to go into a nursing home where they can get care. I don't want them to, but they have to.
Tomorrow, I am going to social services to report this, so that they will come and put them into a nursing home. It's the only way, except for my aunt, who won't do it. I am scared to death, beucase I could be facing a lot. My aunt is HARD to deal with. But I'm scared my grandma is going to wander off and get hurt and we will never ever know what happened to her. Does anyone have any advice?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
