When my hubby was discharged from the hospital I was given a prescription for him for Levofloxicin that he is supposed to take for the next 10 days for the urinary tract infection. Since he was refusing medication for the first two days he was home I hadn't filled the prescription.
I called the pharmacy to see if that medication came in liquid form since Tom had started taking some of his medications but was having some difficulty swallowing them. The pharmacist told me they could order it and asked me if I knew how expensive it was. She suggested I call and see if the dr would order a less expensive medication. I did just that and the doctor called in a prescription. When I went to pick it up it was actually free.
Why in the world would a doctor order a prescription that would cost me close to $100 when the urinary tract infection could be treated by a medication that cost less than $6.00. Why???? Maybe a kick back if the more expensive one is ordered??? Just another thing to increase the anger and frustration I feel all the time.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Use the tried and true (and cheaper drugs) unless something new on market that has no cheaper one.
$$Money runs it all...I finally got generic Aricept !!!!!!After all the waiting and exciement it was on 35 less for 90 day supply!!! Comeon this is a ripoff y any standards. I really anm going to start ordering that and Namenda from Canada!
Also, there was new research over a year ago about the use of Aricept when I was also thinking it had no affect beyond the beginning states. After that research the FDA advised is was working on all states, even severe. My family doctor also agreed so I continue to give it to my mom who is in the moderate severe stage. These medications change so quickly that a lot of booklets and online articles are outdated.
if something is working/helping or not. How would we know ?
My husband was on Reminyl and Namenda for years and went
lickety split through the stages. Would it have been any different if he had never taken them ? We'll never know.
I think giving the meds certainly makes the family feel better - especially in the beginning.
Today..... I look at Canada for her Seroquel, Aricept and Namenda.
