We are trying to determine if financial abuse has taken place for my mom..recently mom fainted due to dehydration....and sister said this was a common thing in alzheimers patience..also weight loss?
She sleeps a lot and was giving her resperdal and trazadone...all she wants to do is sleep. She was a hyperactive individual before all this. 2 years ago she stayed with me, I only gave her her sleep aid type meds at night....if she needed them, she didnt need them, and my sister is about to be under major scrutiny...but I want to get you'alls feedback...I mentioned to her 14 months ago that resperdal was not a good choice for people with dementia...I had done a little research....she JUST had taken her off of,
just started aricept???
trazadone!! Thats a sleep aid
Mertazipine also which in an antidepressant which should NOT be taken with resperdal or a sleep aid. I am afraid she was being drugged now.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
It is not uncommon for family members to be distrustful of the caregiver, especially if they do not know all the bizarre behaviors of AD. Your sister may, indeed, not be doing the right thing, on the other hand, this is a unique disease and those who are not in close contact with the patient do not understand.
Please go to 'recommendations' above and read 'Stages of Alz' and 'What you Need to know.' A 'little research' is not enough to understand AD, you have to be there in the house 24/7, but you are asking obvious questions that you should have known about AD & your mom all along. There are certainly enough books out there. I do not know your family dynamics, your sister could be all the sinister things you think, but I do know that most caregivers need help and appreciation, not suspicion & complaints.
Have qa good week. Hugs and love,
