Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Can someone help me out here, i know a lady that would be the DD driver for many outings with me and other friends. Thing is she would say she doesnt' drink and yet she would drink wine all night and still drive, so one night i say, hey your the DD why are you drinking? She says im not its only wine.. hmm? I also have a sister that says she never drinks either cause she drinks wine. What is that about?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Wine is what got me fired from a job a year b4 I sobered up, and it's what my brother confronted me about b4 I walked into my first meeting. Wine is easy to 'justify,' but complete denial is dangerous, I'd say you need to get another designated driver.
I used to drink almost 2 bottles a night. I am a candidate for liver scerossis. I don't think your bloodstream or liver know the difference. All alcohol is broken down the same. Booze is booze and comes in many flavors, colors and strenghts but if your DD is drinking a bottle of wine she's probably more dangerous than someone who had a couple of shots which mean the only thing she can be designated as is intoxicated.
Has she ever looked at the percentage of alcohol on a wine bottle - it's more lethal than beer!!
Ask her what a cop would say if she got pulled over and said, I've not been drinking - I've only had wine??!! Especially if it was because she hit a kid or a cyclist or someone.
I don't get it. I used to drink wine coz I'd get drunk quicker!
Deial. Definately.
(oh, and re the dieting thing - I got told that
a) if you pinch a chip off your mates plate, it doesn't count, and
b) If you slice a cake and the bit falls over, it doesn't count!!!)
Of course you can note the sarcasm there - this just cracked me up... boy oh boy do I wish wine "didn't count"!!!!!
I only drank beer, and the occassional hard stuff... and we all know beer has less alchool in it then Wine! YEA! Im free, I can go have a DRINK again... ohh and the "occassional" hard stuff would only happen in shots... and 1 shot is equal to one glass of Wine! WOOT! that means I was drinking WINE, not VODKA!
Ohh... and I ONLY drank top shelf, and good expensive BEER! That ALSO must mean Im not a DRUNK, because I always was a bit higher then the REAL drunks who drank the cheap stuff... I was more UP SCALE! WOOT! RIGHOUS PRIDE! Now I am Really feeling good...
BLLLLAAAHHH... ok, now even I am pissing myself off... but maybe we can see where the stupidity of this whole line of discussions leads us.
