Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Drinking has become my replacement addiction. All the other unhealthy methods I used do not work anymore to make the feelings go away. I feel myself going deeper and deeper into it, and I like it. How do I get a grip on this mind set in order to stop? Any suggestions or advice would be great!!! Thanks --- desperate

Drinking has almost killed me more than just a few times, and I still have a VERY HARD time saying no. It is simple but not easy to not drink. Some say, "just dont pick up the bottle" but if they knew how WE are powerless over alcohol, they would understand. Goto AA meetings, stay busy, dont go anywhere that drinking is going on.... Good Luck to you!!! Write me if you want to talk....

Switching from meth or cocaine to alcohol is what we call insane.Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. An easy rule to remember is "you can't think your way into better living. You need to live your life into better thinking.Basically we need to change the way we think. You can do that with the help of AA and a good sponsor.Change the way you live and your life will change as well. Goodluck. Greg G

I have found that picking up a book helps me. I'm reading "Sober For Good" by Fletcher at the moment. When I feel the urge I read some more paragraphs. I've also heard Allen Carr's book is quite good so I have that on call at the library. I don't know why it's helping me, it just is. Sorry I can't offer more.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
