Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hello, My friends. Hope you are well. Just for today, i will remain sober. I have come to a decision to work a sobriety program. I went to a meeting last night and found a sponsor. She is a good caring person who want to help me stay sober. Today i am working on step 1: We admitted that we were powerless over alcohol, that our lives had become unmanageable. I was drinking quite a bit before i realize that i have to stop or die. I was in/out of drunk tank, fighting w/ my spouse & people, getting beat up, in/out of hospital w/ broken bones, losing jobs, home, kids, my husband is in jail, having black outs, getting raped, spending all my money on booze, broke, hungry, tired, lost, weak, cold, nightmares, looking for that drink morning after a drunk, drinking in public, in/out of the court system, losing friendship, self respect. Oh yeah, the problems are endless when you are powerless over alcohol that is cunning, baffling & powerful. I want to live! If you have a story to share, please feel free to. I would love it. You may also contact me if you need support. Thank you for sharing. God bless you all, just for today...one day at a time....24 hrs.

in my exp step one is done while drinking and tryin to see if i am alcoholic or not. Once that is figured out step one is done and time to move on to the rest of the steps

That is great news!! I am so happy for you. You are doing a great thing for yourself. AA and a sponsor will help you tremendously. I know they helped me... It took me a while to admit that I was powerless over alcohol, but once I did, my life got much better. I learnt that the first drink will get me drunk, and with that a lot of misery will follow. Keep coming back!

I agree with Phil. Once you admit you're an alcoholic step one is pretty well done. Oh, and by the way, good for you for going to a meeting and getting a sponsor!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
