Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I've always liked it but something interesting happened after my first AA meeting yesterday. I stopped at Hobby Lobby to pick up a few skeins of embroidery floss. On a whim I decided to look at some of the kits. One caught my eye - the serenity prayer surrounded by a beautiful picture. Counted crosstitch is almost like meditation for me because it requires my undivided attention. Now I will be reminded of the serenity prayer every time I do it. I plan to donate the finished picture to my new group. Anyhow, I know its kinda silly but I don't believe in coincidence.

i don't either and as you get more and more progress in the program those coincidences become very profound. i think it is because as our spirituality truly takes root we are more in tune as spiritual beings to notice what are really little nudges from God. just my opinion, but that is how i see it. anyway, good for you! devonh

Sounds georgous! Hey, I think thats just awesome and to me a clear indication and a clear gift from god of somethign that will be helpful to yo in your recovery. I had somethign similar to remind me of the serenity prayer, I used to say it constantly, in fact when I first was working in recovery I remember storming of to the supermarket with the sole intention of buying alcohol, and instead ended up muttering the serentity prayer under my breath (not meaning it at all for the record) and spending almost $100 on stuff I didnt need - BUT didn't buy alcohol. Its a powerful prayer. Anyhow, yep - I was in a store looking at wallet cards and a georgeous card with the serenity prayer fell to my feet. It was such a "coincidence" as such, that I bought it, and now whenevr I open my wallet to purchase anything... there it is. great reminder! And for you to have found something that reminds you, you can give, and something that will help you take your mind of the poison during your recovery is, as I say, a clear gift from God. Yay you!

I did the same thing early in sobriety. I luv to do counted cross stitch and I would make small pics on nights that I could not sleep and wanted to drink. I passes them along to the group or I put a note saying anyone who wanted one could take one. There are a few ppl who now that I am the one who made them and when i see then it reminds me of where I have come from.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
