Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Drink dependance is a totaly different story.
I agree that people come here because they have a drink problem, but not a 100% have reached the full blown alcholism thing.
Lets not scare them away

But there are exceptions and I wish there were more.
Interesting thread a few more replies would be good.

i don't think mike is being to hard. not drinking can save your life and if being in your face about it saves your life that's all that matters. 12 step programs teach you to be here for a suffering alcoholic and you do the best you can. some people smooth those rough edges with time. i've been around oldtimers ever since i came into aa, and they did not sugar coat anything. sometimes they just hurt my feelings period. but i'm still hear. if you want to stay sober you'll meet all kinds of people. some in your face and others not so blunt. but in the end we are here to help each other stay sober one day at a time.
My feeling is thus, people come to this site often as there first port of call, I came to one similar a long time ago.
They may know nothing of AA and the first thing they hear is "go to a Meeting" or "go to the rooms", how the hell do they know what we are talking about, rather than help them we may be sending them back into the Abys.
Also it is a medical fact that it can not only be dangerous but it can be lethal for some to come instantly of the grog.
So just to say " Its easy, stop drinking, go to the AA" could be a life sentance for some.
Were not experts here, just caring Alcoholics that wish to help, I feel that we have to be carefull how we approach things, and welcome people at whatever stage they are at, I find that other sites fall down by not doing this.
Someones life could be at stake, we should give them the respect that they need.
