Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hi All
Its my Birthday Friday, lucky old me. It is also going to be the first time in 2 years that I am going to allow anyone to drink in my house.
I feel really fine about it, I am going to busy myself with the food side, and mingle as I feel.
A few of the people coming are also in the same position as me, recovering alcoholics, some are mild drinkers and some, well they need to go to rehab or the rooms, but they are firmly in denial.
Everybody that is coming knows my situation, and I believe are supportive.
My question is Guys is do you feel this is right or wrong, would you do it
Sorry I can't invite you all

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Here is something from page 101 of the BB Alcoholics Anonymous
So our rule is not to avoid a place where there is drinking, if we have a legitimate reason for being there. That includes bars, nightclubs, dances, receptions, weddings, even plain ordinary whoopee parties. To a person who has had experience with an alcoholic, this may seem like tempting Providence, but it isn't.
If I could suggest anything it would be if you are drinking, soft drink of course or other refreshments.
Drink from a bottle with a lid or place you drink to the side also pour your own drinks.
This may sound a little paranoid and I know that all attending the party are friends but those who like to drink a little may be tempted to spike your drink just for a laugh. Misery loves company.
Please dont take this the wrong way.
And if you go to AA meetings if possible get to a meeting Thursday night.
I am sure you will have a great time.
God Bless
Lionel.
Thank you all for your support

It concerns me a little that you're going to be around heavy drinkers who're in denial. It especially concerns me that you're putting yourself at risk of having your drink spiked for a gag.
Maybe next time you have a party, invite only your non drinking friends and friends who could take it or leave it. If someone does not have a drinking problem then they don't mind being at a party without alcohol.
I hope you have an enjoyable, sober birthday:^)
Your support is greatly appreciated, not to invite some of the people that have a drink problem, would preclude people that I have known some while, they are fairly pushed out in my sobriety anyway.
On this one occasion I think we can all tolerate each other, the drunks and my New AA friends and family.
Think we can control them, they will be sent home if they get out of hand and they know that.
I am also ending at a sensible time, and those that want to continue can find there own watering hole.
Thank you all it does make me stronger.
