Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

whether I stay or go. I was invited to ds by my best friend and while I have many medical problems, I am not an alcoholic. I am a disabled Master's level Mental Health Counselor with experience in drug & alcohol treatment. I do not want to be here on false pretenses; people I love, both friends and family have alcohol problems. I would like to be here as a support person and resource if needed.
But, it is up to all of you here. If you want me to leave, I will with no hard feelings. Just say the word.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
And as far as proving my credentials, I don't have a clue as to how to do it online! ;-) The only thing I can even think of is to take pics of my framed diploma with my real name on it. But, hey, that can be just as fake as anything else. There is one person who can vouch for me. School taught me a lot, having an alcoholic brother taught me more. Again, that could be fake too, lol! That's the internet, gotta love it!
Thanks to both of you for accepting me. It means a lot.
Having said that, you say you have loved ones who are alcoholic, there are plenty of people here in that boat. I might be uncomfortable if you were offering advice based on what came out of a textbook; but if you're here to offer advice based on experience, that's perfectly acceptable to me.
I will ask people questions, but that has nothing to do with Counseling, it is just me.
I've found AA to be a program that respects its participants and it works for a lot of people. I wanted to show the same respect for others who post here.
were all mental health counsellors on here, trained or other wise, so welcome I say

Since being disabled, I sculpt and carve wood, read, surf the net, and my favorite: ride my motorcycle!
But, I still struggle with too many health problems. And I worry about my brother and my Mom.
Welcome and thanks for being here
