Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I had my last drink Dec 7th and DS helped to make that decision. I looked at my communities and saw one thing in common, alcohol has a negative effect on them: High Blood Pressure, Depresssion, Insomnia and Psoriasis. My fitness goals of staying in shape are much easier to achieve if I never have another drink. Yes, I used to drink too much and that probally has something to do with why I'm looking for a new job, even though I was laid off with a severance package.
Alcohol adds nothing to my life. Right now I can't see any situation where I am compelled to drink. I've gone to bars, ballgames, parties without drinking because I had to drive home (of course I knew I could drink when I got there), or was with someone that didn't drink. I usually don't drink at family events, maybe a beer with a brother.
Now how do I tell all my party friends that I just don't drink anymore, but still want to be invited out? That part I haven't figured out without being labled as a leper, er I mean an "Alcoholic". Tell me what you think.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
If you think drinking was holding you back, tell 'um so. My ex told me he quit smoking because he was doing everything else right in his life but that didn't fit, so he quit.
Be yourself...if they can't take it...are they really your friends???
Good luck and congrates on your wise choices! to live the Good Life!
I'm sure I will still need everyone here for because I'm no expert ;p Yes, I've quit hundreds of times. Maybe everyone can encourage me to make sure this is the last time I will quit and I will remain sober at last. At least that is what I hope.

All of my friends know I am an Alcoholic, bit hard explaining how I went from 10 Pints, 3 Bottles of wine and 1/2 a bottle of Jack Daniels a day to Zero.
I still get invited to everything, but funny thing is O don't want to go to everything, as I get bored, so I have many new interests in my life.
And stop worrying, 90% of your drinking friends are envious.
A very big well done
