Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I grew up in an alcoholic household. It was a very angry atmosphere... My parents quit when i was 15, and the change was very slow to follow, but there was a good change none the less...
I am now the same age as my mother was when she quit, and my oldest is the same age I was when my parents quit drinking...
My party atmosphere is not violent, but destructive by means of acessive...
I hit my bottom, as my mom did, but am concernd for the chain link being so simalar, almost identical...
Is there anything i can do to help my children break this chain...

be honest. forthright. take them to alateen or alatot or a.a. and as a mother- do not drink. no matter what. there would be no greater gift you could give your children. take care of yourself- the rest will fall in line. love, devonh

I don't know anything about breaking patterns. I believe I was born an alcholic and it was part of God's plan as I am helping other people like me today. So far this disease has been linked throughout my family. My niece who is only 20 has progressed very rapidly. The best thing I can do is lead by example in the program and pray for the people in my family. There is something biblical about sins of the father past down (but that's a whole other discussion). You can be the big book that your family members read as my niece is (hopefully) following my lead in recovery... Attraction not promotion. I'll be praying for you & your family.

I think it's important to take into consideration moderation. By no means should you encourage any behaviors but to avoid them may simply cause a greater allure. Education is important and open, honest discussions with people you care about are the best ways to cope with issues. No one is perfect and is shows true strength and character to admit your faults but to also show you've grown stronger from them.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
