Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

My husband is in jail again. He has had 5 OWI's since 18 yr old. (he is now 38) He went for 3 yrs sober and then fell apart again. I always fall for his crying and take him back. Why can't he let me help him. He says he wants to stop but after awhile everything gets to him and he can't resist it. Some advice please?

There is no reason to trust an alcoholic who's still practicing. That doesn't mean you can't love him for who he is.Alcoholism is a disease of the body and the mind. You need not participate in his maddness. You can't scare an alcoholic with words. If he is an alcoholic you can't even scare him with actions. He has to be willing to change his life.Next time that this happens stand by your guns.Alcoholics pride themselves in escaping any personal responsibility for their actions. You need to develop a "show me" attitude.Once he has proven himself to you then and only then should you consider letting him back into your life.It will be hard I know but he has to be able to assume responsibility for his own life before he can assume responsibility for somebody elses.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
