Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Write down amount of money you typically spend/spent on alcohol per day.
For example, in my case a bottle and a half of wine is roughly the equivalent of $12.
Write down the number of days per week you drink/drank your average daily consumption
For example, in my case that would be 4.
Multiple the first number by the second number to come up with the average amount of money spent on alcohol per week.
$48 if my math skills aren't too rusty.
Multiply that number by 52. Here's where I have to pop off to use a calculator.
$2,496 according to my calculator.
I am going to put my "wine money" in a jar and at the end of one year I am putting a down payment on a new car because the lease on our PT Cruiser will be expiring at the same time.
Kind of a crass materialistic way to look at cost/benefit analysis of drinking, but a very concrete one.
Cheers!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I sat down with a counsellor once a long time ago and when we added up what I spent on.
Alcohol, Poker machines, Solicitors fees, court costs for dui fines, and other alcohol related finds.
Fines on debts, such as interest because my money went on alcohol rather than paying my bills.
Lost time from work because I was to hung over to go and I had already used all my sick leave.
Plus the money I stole to support my drinking.
And we only done it over a 20 year period the amount was out of this world.
I drank away 2 $400,000 homes and the list goes on. I sent the publican of the hotels for a few trips around the world while there where times I couldnt put food on the table at home and though things are good at home these days and have been for awhile I sometimes wonder how it went on for so many years.
the maths add up, so lets stay sober
My habit used to cost me 20,000 UK Pounds a year at the very least, maybe double
And that was without all the problems it caused
Look at it any way, there is nothing good about it
