About to start taking antabuse and no one seems to be able to tell me if I can bleach my hair or use fake tan. This my seem silly to most but I am a dancer and I make money off the way I look. Does any one else out there bleach their hair or use fake tan. THIS IS IMPORTANT TO ME!

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
If you need to take antibuse to keep from drinking the least of your problems is tanning your body and bleaching your hair.
I'm sorry to say this, but if you have a drinking problem you need to change your playthings, your play places, your playmates and most importantly in your case, your career. The emotional toll of what you are doing will make it next to impossible for you to get sober.
I say this not to judge or criticize, but rather to tell you the truth based on my experience of 14 years sober in AA.

I know I was told to avoid cologne and all aftershaves and to be careful with deoderant. No idea about bleach and fake tan though I'm afraid.
It's the woman's living and I bet she makes pretty darned good money at it.
Most of the big shows in Vegas and/or Reno...whatever...always have the dancers. Guys and gals....
They look pretty frickin healthy to me.
They're athletes.
Never heard of an athlete having addiction issues?
I do agree though that antabuse is not the be all and end all to alcoholism as I'm sure you are about to find out. I found my solution in AA and haven't taken antabuse for years now.
See your doctor about the fake tan and hair bleach - antabuse can react with any form of alcohol ingested through intentinal tract or epidermis (skin - at least that is what I was told by my doctor.
In this case I have never seen this person on here before. She has absolutely no info on her profile. Her post clearly indicates that the amount of money she makes depends on her looks not on her ability to dance.
Therefore I assume she is some type of exotic dancer. In the US I think that dancers in that field probably out number professional dancers in shows, entertainment, ballet about 99 to one.
At no time did I insinuate she was a slut. I would never do that. I raised three daughters and no one deserves that label. I know that many exotic dancers do it out of financial neccessity.
What I also know is that it is not a good environment for anyone let alone someone trying to stop drinking. The people that own those businesses are usually not model citizens. Drinking and drugs are the norm.
I also believe that no matter what the reason a woman or man is doing this it is taking an emotional, mental and spiritual toll.
As alcoholics those our emotional, mental and spiritual lives are usually in shambles when we decide to get sober. Anything that continues to cause harm in those areas of our life hampers our ability to get sober.
I'm sorry if that offends anyone's sensabilities, but I believe it to be the truth.
