Hello! Just wanted some opinions on cravings. There are days where I feel like I'm going nuts battling the cravings. My doctor has me on Campral which I thought was supposed to help with the cravings, I guess it just doesn't work for some people. Got any suggestions on how to battle these cravings?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I thought when I stopped drinking things should have got better but for me they got worse so alcohol was but a symptom of the disease I had alcoholism. And thats what I treated at meetings with a 12 step program
You have been to AA in the past and it must have worked for you but when we stop going and are not around positive people that stinking thinking comes back.
Stinking thinking leads to drinking
I would suggest you get back to meetings. You may not be able to find the time its a very elusive thing .You may have to make time to go.
I was told when that desire for alcohol or the sugar in it comes up to have a chocolate milkshake or two you wont feel like a drink after that also a chocolate bar when the mood swings start the body is after the sugar that is in alcohol. That is why some of us get the electric fleas the inching on or arms and other parts of the body. The nerve endings are drying up.
You may put on a little weight with the chocolate but it helped me get through those early stages.
These are only suggestions that worked for me.
You are in my prayers. God Bless

To take care of your cravings eat some ice cream. I prefer rocky road. :) Or if you have some honey in the house...eat a teaspoon.

Campral worked for me, but as you say may not have the same result for all, it does take 2 weeks to kick in, how long have you been taking.
Cravings are a nightmarte, even after 22 months I get the odd one, we just have to get through them, do something els, anything, just try to get your mind of them, they say that a peak of craving lasts about 2 minutes then they gently subside, stupid things, brisk walk, call a friend, read the newspaper any small distraction will do.
I would suggest keep taking the Campral, you may feel its not helping, but the cravings might be even worse without, and of course get as much support as you can.
They will pass so hang in there
