Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hi everyone Im dave a recovered alcoholic. I left this site months ago do to the negative responses. I have been monitoring your posts now for a month and it looks a little less confortational than when I left. I am 6 1/2 yrs sober I am not recovering my alcoholism was removed by god thru the 12 steps. I dont try to keep sober every day but I do seek to stay connected to the power that keeps me sober every day. That power for me is God. To this day i dont know who or what god is whether he is alah budda jaweha jesus the great reality deep within. For me its not important in what i call god as long as I call God every day. Some tips I was given that I have follwed every day is I start my day off by reading 2 pages of the first 164 pages of the Big Book. I read several other AA books then I follow the directions right from pg 86 Upon awakening. i say the 3rd and 7th step prayer and ask god to keep me sober. I dont go to aa every day but I do seem to make consistently 4 to 5 meeting week I have a home group and im the gso for my group. I have a sponsor who has walked me thru the 12 steps and upon doing that I began to sponsor. Yes as has been posted on this site I have sponsored a few women. I also have sponsored some alanons and a few addicts. to me a sponsor from my exp is someone who is willing to take someone thru the steps and put thier sponsee's hand into the hand of god eho or what ever God is to thiuer sponsee. I am not a finacial advisor, relationship counselor or any other thing. The only thing I can do is offer my exp. I dont give sponsee's assigments I simply share the path i have taken. I also dont add anything to the directions for the steps. I dont journal thats not in the bb by the way and when I did it it didnt help. I also know when someone is new its probably best to listen rather than talk like my sponsor told me when i was new you have 2 ears and one mouth play the odds. When I was new to aa over 6yrs ago the one place I was told to share was in detox being no matter what came out of my mouth I couldnt hurt those ppl. Seemed at the time and still seems like good advice. Sorry for the long post. I will share my exp on what did not work for me. I had 38 yrs exp on what did not work. I do have 6 1/2 yrs exp on what has worked for me that i will share with anyone who cares to listen.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
THIS IS MY SPONSOR!!! THIS IS WHAT THE REAL DEAL LOOKS LIKE!
You all say I sound strong, got a lot to offer! Stick around! THIS IS WHERE IT COMES FROM...THE TRUTH IS I GOT WHAT I HAVE FROM DAVE PLACING MY HAND IN GOD'S CARE AND I TOOK HOLD TIGHT AS I COULD!
If you want what we have, listen, listen, listen...then work it with your life at stake in mind!
I have been told that I share softer (but not wishy washy) about AA and the 12 steps, and that I should keep it up. Dave shares how Dave shares and he is awsome at what he does. If you all like what I have and the way I share my experiance, strenght and hope, it's because I am a reflection of what this man here has tought me.
Love ya's,
Karen

Lack of good sponsorship is what is so dearly missing in many of the rooms these days...

"Even so has God restored us all to our right minds. To this man, the revelation was sudden. Some of us grow into it more slowly. But He has come to all who have honestly sought Him.
When we drew near to Him He disclosed Himself to us!"

This is what you said:
"To this day i dont know who or what god is whether he is alah budda jaweha jesus the great reality deep within."
Therefore, my quote.
