Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Attended a curious meeting (aa) last night where the main sharer said if you dont believe in God that you will NEVER get sober and that aa was a Christian programme. Somewhat confounded by all this I thought I would as the community what they thoughtx

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
If this mans views keeps that man sober then I say so be it, it does not mean that we must follow in his path or agree with him.
I was taught early on, that when I go to a meeting, that I should just take the parts away with me that I agree with and leave the others behind.

You have received some good feedback, I hope you embrace it.
I'm sorry you had to endure that Bull***t and I hope you give AA another chance.
I have a friend that is an atheist in AA, he is an old-timer too. I always like talking to him, he was a therapist.
There are Buddhists in AA, etc. I had a friend ask me how to handle a certain Buddhist, because she believed in God. I told her to just work her through the steps as she was supposed to do and let God do His work, if He felt inclined.
That lovely lady is still sober.
Many members of this fellowship do not call themselves Christian. The person who told you that is wrong.
