Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I have noticed in the rooms that some have been there for like 15-20 years. I go to these meetings daily and I see them again.
Why are they still going after all this time? I know this is an uncurable disease; however, do these people have nothing better to do after 20 years? Wouldnt 1 or 2 be enough? I think it would certainly stop the gossip.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
As far as gossip goes, if you're paying more attention to the gossip than 'the message', then you ain't gettin' it! May God help you.
Don't look at how long a person has been there, look yourself and they are like you, just one day at a time.
I have quite a few 24 hrs. in myself, I don't have to go to these meetings, I'm not forced, I go because I want to, it keeps me sober, plus you never know when a new person may walk through that door, and we are there to help them.
If you hang a long time and keep seeing the same people, you'll start to understand why we keep coming back.
You're going to start joining us and laugh with us, trust me were not here to ridicule you, we want to help you make it
I know this sounds real stupid but I have a little saying, " winners do the things losers don't want to do"
Also a little advice, don't be the last to come in and the first to leave, offer to make coffee, set things up, if it's a smokers meeting, empty ash trays, do some service work, you're going to meet the great ones this way also, don't be shy, you weren't shy when you were drinking.
I heard a complaint Thursday (Thanksgiving) why is there a meeting today? didn't you drink on holidays?
Well about all of the advice I can give you

I want to die sober, whether I kick in the next minute or by some miracle of science, lifespans are extended to over a thousand years. Oh, and I want QUALITY of life in the meantime, too. That means staying sober by whatever means possible, savoring each individual day at a time. Seems like AA got a recipe that works for preparing this meal. And I'm a gonna be hungry till I die! ~LoL~
Thought they must all be crazy, after 10 months I stopped going and of course relapsed.
I now accept that this is for life

He goes because he has something to give back to the fellowship that saved his life..
He goes, because he likes alkies(sober or new)...
he goes because he can...
He goes because God has a plan for him in those rooms and he must be there to witness that miracle every meeting...
I think if Jimmy can do it sixty years... i will try to add another 44years to the meetings i am hopoing to attend...
I wonder how many miracles i will continue to see too.
God bless.
