Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I heard someone say something at a meeting yesterday I'd like to share with you.
"9 things" he said, "I had to give up that one thing (drinking) in order to keep my other 9 things. So if I pick up that one thing I will only have that one thing. I'll lose the other 9."
I get that! When I was drinking I couldn't do, accomplish, own anything! Since AA I have a home. a kid, a life, a God. I have so much today. AA has taught me to live my life one day at a time. Accomplish just one small thing at a time and those little things lead to great big things... like bank accounts! Thanks for letting me share!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
1- My sober time (13 years)
2- My husband (he's sober almost 17 years)
3- My children (that's 2)
4- My house (barely pay the mortgage now)
5- My van (I'm sure I'd drive drunk in it, then I'd lose my license too)
6- My job (can't do what I do without a license)
7- My family (They've already been thru this with my mother)
8- Myself
9- Ultimately, my life
Is it worth it? No, but unfortunately logic has nothing to do with addiction. I think I'll keep coming.
Hey and ktharp423 if you keep the van you would get done for drunk in charge, they would take the van away and all you end up with is the drink.Lol
This thread is oh so sadly true, it nearly how my story ended, but I pulled back from the brink.
Thanks for posting it
