Adoption is the legal act of permanently placing a child with a parent or parents other than the birth parents. Whether you are looking to adopt, putting your child up for adoption, parenting an adopted child, or just thinking about it, this is the place to discuss.

I know a young lady(17) who is so close to me that she call's me her aunt. Well she has a daughter who is 5 months old and is thinking about letting my husband and I adopt the little girl. I don't know how to go about adopting without going through an agency. Is this something that can be done through a lawyer? I mean if she knows who she want's to have the baby than I would'nt think we would have to go through an agency,,, any information would be great... I live in Montana and she is in my home state of Michigan if that help's,,, Thank's so much

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
A relative of mine did the exact same thing. Except, the birthmother wanted her baby back and my relative didn't have a leg to stand on because there was no paperwork done.
Sounds like your "friend" want her cake and ice cream. Are you going to raise the child and have the child call you Mom or is the Birth Mother going to pop by to say Hi every now and then and call the baby hers. What are your long term goals with raising the baby.
