Since we have people from the States, GBR, and Australia in this group (if there is anyone from any other country just include yourself as well!) I'm curious about how the different courts view the whole adoption file secrecy thing. Here in the States I believe each State has their own way of doing things -- some states allow some info to be released and some don't -- and perhaps maybe some of us older people might be living under different laws than some of the peopIe younger -- haven't researched any of this but wondered if any of you know what your state or country does with this topic (besides frustrate the heck out of us!). If we're going to push for reform we need to know what we're dealing with. Am not sure how hard this is to look into but with the Internet my guess is not too hard. I believe I'm the only one writing from the state I live in but was adopted in a different state so will look into those laws this week to see what they have to say. Maybe if you're interested in this you could do the same? Also, maybe look around on the Web -- I'm doing this a little every day but haven't been looking into this topic -- see if there are organizations out there who are already lobbying and all that. They'll have already done legwork on this so we might not have to. Stuff like that. Anyone else interested in this?

I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
