I have been told my my son's psychologist that she believes he has ADD and possibly pervasive developmental disorder. She told us to be seen by a psychitrist, then the psychitrist said he needs neuropsych testing and she couldn't do it so she sent us somewhere else. We never ended up doing it because we couldn't find one the insurance would cover and I ended up in the hospital being dx'd with MS. Anyhow, I need to start this ball rolling again, where do I go???? HELP!!!! Thanks

i AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM FINDING SOMEONE TO DO A NUEROPSYCH TESTING. i WOULD CHECK WITH ANY CHILDRENS HOSPITALS IN THE AREA OR UNIVERCITY HOSPITALS TO SEE IF THEY CAN RECCOMMEND SOMEONE. OUR INSURANCE HAS NOONE EITHER BUT TOLD ME IF i FOUND SOMEONE THEY WOULD COVER IT UNDER AN EXLUSION SINCE THEY HAD NOONE TO OFFER.

You know, I never had this problem. I took my daughter to her pediatrician. He gave me a behavior questionaire and issued a diagnosis and percription to treat it. The first one didn't work so we tried another and it worked. I have since had her re-evaluated by a psychologist and once again they just gave out a bunch of questionaires. Maybe you could look on your insurance for more psychiatrists and psychologists who do not need to do a neuropsych screening. I know the doctors ask for things for a reason but the screening...? Does your son communicate? Is your son old enough to have a specific set of symptoms?

I've been involved in this procedure for several years now with my 9 year old son. My sister also has 2 sons with ADHD. Here's how we both got it done. First, I got the preliminary diagnosis from his pediatrician. She prescribed meds but referred him to a PEDIATRIC NEURODEVELOPMENTALIST (basically a neurologist who works with kids and ADHD). It took 8 months of waiting before he could finally be seen and so I took him to a psychiatrist to get the diagnosis in the meantime. He has since been on several medications (I don't know if you realize this, but they are VERY fast to medicate). I have recently pulled him from all meds (which makes it soooo hard to deal with his behavior) and I'm working on natural remedies to help him cope. Right now we're taking Omega 3-6-9, Jr...wish me luck as I wish you all the best of luck in finding what works for your child and your family.

I took my son to a neurologist. She checked him over, observed his behavior with me and others, had an ADHD blood panel done to check for any metabolic problems that could be causing his behavior and an EEG to check his brainwave pattern and had us fill out the basic ADHD syptom checklist. Ask your pediatrician to recommend a good neurologist or call around. They seem more thorough, versus just doing the checklist and observation and saying yup.. he has it. I didn't want him diagnosed with it and it be something more.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
