My son is 8 yrs old and is on Aderall XR 10 mg for his ADHD. Since my son has been on meds over a year ago his appetite is pretty much gone. This particular med is a time release and is pretty much worn off by time he is home from school everyday. He still seems to never be hungry. He will eat breakfast. Not much at all for lunch and practically no dinner. He has gotten fussier with food. He does eat lots of fruits, but he is so thin. He's not losing any weight, but he's getting taller and staying the same weight. the doctor says to watch his weight to make sure he's not losing any. Is there anyone out there that has experienced anything similar. thanks.

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
He barely eats anything for unch- I pack cheese and crackers, apple juice and some fruit, and I'm lucky if he eats that. He's started eating yogurt at home and school breakfast, but I don't know how much. he likes eggs so i make egg tacos at home fot lunch, dinner or snack.
I buy whole milk for him. He doesn't like meat except for chicken - he'll eat chick-fil-a and wendy's nuggets, and loves Pei-Wei honey chicken, so I've learned to make that at home. (just cut up chicken and marinate in honey and saute) and its sweet enough he wants to eat it with rice. I limit candy because 1) it makes him hyper and 2) makes him not want to eat anything else.
If the meds are helping, then just try to find what he'll eat and feed it as much as you can.
wish i could help more - let me know if there's anything else I can answer.
My son was born small and stayed small. I turned him around before he reached 20 pounds because his legs were all scrunched up. I put him in a booster seat before he reached 40 pounds because the car seat straps were leaving marks and bruises they were so tight. When he finally reached 40 pounds I actually celebrated because it took sooooooo long. A lot has to do with medicine but it also has to do with genetics. My mom was constantly worried about me but I think I learned from her experience because I didn't worry about my son I figured he'd eat when he got hungry. Right now he eats from the time he gets home from school to the time he falls asleep literally. If he doesn't get enough to eat before bed he'll wake up extra early like 4 am asking for food. I keep a snack box for him with those little bags of cereal, peanut butter crackers, cheese nips, pretzels, party mix or trail mix. We buy everything in bulk so he gets to pick out one thing that's "junk food" and usually that's fruit roll up or fruit gummies and the jack pot is one box with both in it! I just regulate how many are in the box at a time and the box stays on top of the fridge so he has to wake us up to get to it and he's only allowed one "junk item" I hope this helps but the best advice of all is kids will eat when they're hungry!
I'm not saying don't listen to the doctors but I really think this day and time kids have gotten so big when they see a "normal" or slightly "abnormal" weight in a child they get concerned but do some research and find out what's normal weight for his age and you may even want to look a few years back because they have increased this range recently. They tried to tell me that my child was underweight when he was born. He weighed 5 lbs. 15 oz. a normal weight for a baby is 6-8 lbs. so he was a whole ounce off but he didn't lose any weight in the hospital either.
I really wouldn't get concerned about Chris' weight unless he started losing!
