My son is like a broken doll, he is flawed, and has faults. But like a favourite toy, I still want him, and will take care of him.
Others may see him as something to throw away, not worth bothering with, shoved to one side or stuffed in a cupboard. I don't give up on him and neither do I push him aside.
He is my son.
Just a few words about my boy with ADHD. This is how he appears to me.
I know this isn't really a discussion subject but I wanted to put my thoughts down here for others to read, and to see if others feel the same way about their children.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I think thinking your child is "broken" is wrong; it sets the stage for failure.
We are all flawed--we all have weaknesses and strengths. It makes us "individuals"--we all need to learn how to deal with our shortcomings (and our strenghs) as we grow.
My child has adhd--and there is nothing wrong with her. She just has adhd, and I have to meet the challenge of helping her grow. That is my job. Her job is to grow up--she is just a kid.
Perhaps I am so dreadfully flawed myself that I think this way.
Teach him to NEVER give up and that Integrity is the most important quality.
Good luck!

In my eyes everyone is "broken". If we weren't we wouldn't be mortal. I think other's "broken" qualities are maybe just a tad bit more hidden than a childs.
I too love my child and have dealt with people who feel that she is worth nothing and needs to be overlooked.
