The child they describe at school is not what my grandson is like at home at all. They describe him and being defiant and a behavioral problem. I went to school and spent 4 hours with him and still did not see the big behavioral problem that they see. How can a child be so different at home than at school? My daughters, I have 3, all were better at school than at home. More respectful to teachers than me etc. My grandson is the opposite. He is sweet and his behavior is easy to control at home but the teachers say he does not respect them or behave for them. That he just looks at them and does exactly what they tell him not to do. How can that be? What can I do?

Perhaps ask the teacher if a friend of yours that he does not know can sit in the back of the classroom sometime. He won't know this person and sometimes the Principal or other mentor teachers sit in anyway. But, this way, you'll get a first hand report from someone you trust. With my son, he knew I was there, so he'd behave big time. Because I work for the school district, I was able to have a third party sit in (psychologist), and she knew what to look for. Perhaps, one of the districts phychologists can sit in and observe. You'd have to work with the Principal and teacher on that one. Good luck.

Maybe the reason that he's more defiant at school rather than at home is cause school is more of a structured setting and he has issues with that! Maybe it's cause all of the stimulus that is at the school..i know that this is a huge problem for one of my sons, he's still defiant at home, but no where near as bad as at school!

I know how you feel!!!.....My 7 year old is the same way. At school they say he can't focus,or follow directions, but at home he is able to do his work and do it fast. My 2 teen girls were great at school and did what they were asked too, that is why they today in High school are making A's. Having both sex i see a big difference between them. People are always telling me my son is just being a BOY. And boys can be more to handle then girls. I don't beleive this is a mental thing, but just the way they are. I do though tend to baby my son more then I did my girls and wonder if that has anything to do with it.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
