My grandson's troubles are getting worse at school since the modifications. He got 3 sad notes already so will not be able to go on the Halloween field trip. I don't think I will even send him to school on that day. I took him to the pediatrian even though I did not want medication. She reaffirmed the ADHD and wanted to start meds but I said not yet. She gave me a modifications list to give to the school. His teacher is just tired of him. She says , "Oh no mamam. Everyday is a new day and each child is special." I don't buy that she believes that. And when she is questioned she gets defensive and bitchy. The doctor gave us a referal to a ADHD clinic but the waiting list is months. I am tired of treating him like a bad child at home and at school. So I will be giving more positives in the home since the teacher thinks it is unfair to give positive reinforcement to one child. We have alot of work ahead of us. Teacher said kindergarten is not madatory but if he did not go he would be so far behind. I think I am going to check on if he can have 1/2 day. He was soooooo thankful that I came to get him early yesterday. I was the best nona in the world.

I'm sorry that your grandson is experiencing all of this at such a young age. I have 2 children dx with adhd, and the other child is being tested for it. My 7 yr old is on meds for it, but his meds work about as good as candy would on him, he get's sent home a lot cause of his adhd as well as his other issues..so i do know what your going through. In my son's school it's like they single out the kids that have issues, and it's like they are the ones whom always get blamed for pretty much everything even if he had nothing to do with it! It's very sad to see children with adhd(or any issue) be singled out like this, and with my son's school its a constant fight to prove his innocence(there are times that he is innocent) but he still get's suspended a lot cause of his behavior. My son's issues aren't all to do with adhd cause he does suffer from other things as well, but it's a struggle none the less! Good luck to you!

I know exactly how you feel. Go to my profile and read the letter I wrote to my child's middle school. It in my journal entry.

My son has ADHD. Kindergarten is not mandatory HOWEVER I chose to send him to school ALL DAY private versus a half day public. And his school is like 1st grade since it is an aggressive program. Yes, he is struggling but he is learning. Teachers told me that half day Kindergarten would bore my son and would likely do better in an all day program. It keeps moving. I am glad I chose the all day program because he is showing progress. Better they learn essentials before the BIG 1st Grade! Remember, making it EASY isn't really teaching Life's Lessons and sets him up for stuff, just later.Just my thoughts...

I am so sorry this is upsetting you....I am too going through the same thing as we speak. This has just started with his teacher, and I am getting more and more stressed. They will not work with our children anymore unless they are medicated pretty much is what they seem to tell me. I refused after the meeting I had Wed with my sons teacher, pricipal, vice principal, and school phyc. They all pretty much tried to corner me and tell me my son will fail and they will not give him any more special treatments from the other children because i refuse to do as they ask. I beleive there is more options out there for our children then meds.I am not giving up nor am I giving in. We have rights as parents and grandparents to protect our children at all cost. You just have to keep reading and searching for better answers.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
