My 10yr. old son and 6yr. old daughter began the med. process for their ADHD back in May & June. It has been heaven sent for our family! Their ability to focus and apply what they have learned has sky rocketed and so has their confidence! But I was warned at their last doctor's appointment that if their weight doesn't atleast stabalize then they may not be able to continue with their meds. Since May, they have both lost atleast a pound by every doctor's appointment! My kids have always been good sized kids. ie... my daughter has always been about 98% for her height and about 80% for her weight, but now, they are both atleast 15 pounds less than what they should weigh! That's a lot for children! I told that doctor that the meds. have been heaven sent and I wouldn't want them to have to stop but getting them to eat while on their meds. has been very difficult! She told me to find what they like to eat no matter what it is and allow them to eat when ever they want. They also seem to metabolize their long acting med. quickly making homework time difficult so she gave me a short acting med. to give them right after school but warned me that it will make getting them to eat after that time that much more difficult. Any advice???
