My 14yo son diagnosed with ADHD in 3rd grade. Up to now, things have been manageable. Now he's in 9th grade. Grades are horrible,(flunking 3 out of 4 classes right now) no desire to do any schoolwork, says he wants to get his grades up, but no initiative to do anything about it. Just fights us all the way, attitude at home is horrible. He has total respect for authority, friends' parents, etc. We are losing control at home. (or, I guess we've lost it already!!) He gets ready when he's ready... apparently never had the word hustle as a vocab word!! Anybody out there deal or dealing with this? Any advise on how to handle the school issues and the constant battles at home. Right now he's not on any meds. He wanted to try stopping, and it really didn't hurt his grades too much for a while... going back to doctor tomorrow to try something else.
